Campaign against HIV & AIDS Pandemic

Sung- Bawiara Foundation strives to sensitize people on the HIV & AIDS pandemic; the organization educates and campaign against all form of stigma melted out to Persons Living with HIV & AIDS. More importantly (SBF) engages Persons Living with HIV & AIDS on how to live healthy as well as encourages people to have voluntarily testing.

Technical and management capacity of SBF

The Foundation currently has 11 professional staff with various backgrounds, responsible for the implementation of the programmes and Project in the organization.  The Foundation also has a 5 member Board of Trustees who is responsible for the general growth of the organization and providing policy direction to the project staff for the implementation of programmes.

Support to Orphans of HIV & AIDS

Education remains an integral part to the existence of Sung- Bawiara Foundation. It is on this base that, SBF has chosen the path to support orphans who are victims of HIV & AIDS. The organization solicits for partners and mobilized internal support to pay their fees and cater for basics needs as well.

Women Empowerment (VSLA Concept)

The issues of women empowerment has become one major issue in the door steps of development partners and government. Discrimination and poverty continue to defeat the women effort in building their capacity. In order to contribute in alleviation of poverty among the rural poor; SBF has adopted the Village Savings and Loans Association (VSLA Concept) to help provide income for women through their own savings mobilizations.

Skill Training

Acquisition of knowledge and skills helps in building the capacity of people. Acquiring skills make one to become more productive and the resultant effects become sustained income and improvement in household welfare. SBF therefore trains vulnerable women and teenage girls in the area of soap making, bakery, tailoring, hair- dressing, pito brewing and other economic productive skills.

Food Security

Food insecurity has been one major treat facing third world communities including Ghana, though a considerable effort has been increasing productivity, issues of malnutrition, accessibility and sufficiency still persist. It is against this backdrop that SBF support vulnerable women farmer groups to engage in food crop cultivation. The initiative is to build their capacities in order to adopt best farming practices to increase yield.

Afforestation

Climate change has become a monster. We are now at a cross road and the only way is a decisive and immediate action in order to prevent future consequences of climate change. Going forward, SBF has seen the need to plant trees with high medicinal and economic values in Ghana communities along water bodies, schools and farmlands. The projects will not only provide cover to the environment; food and income of residents will be appreciated.

Child Protection

The right of the Ghanaian child has continuously being trampled upon the incidence of rape, abuse, torture, denial and murder has become a worrying. The organization strives to fight all forms of crime against children, as well as collaboration with stakeholders to promoting child’s right and dignity.

Youth Empowerment & Advocacy

Sung- Bawiara Foundation (SBF) believed that, the capacity of the youth needs to be enhanced in order to help empower them for the future. More so SBF call for change in public perception and attitudes regards emerging social concern; SBF advocates on women empowerment, child protection, girl – child education, health and nutrition, water and sanitation, forestation and human rights.
